Johnson County enrolling participants for Citizens Academy program. You can learn about the inner workings of Johnson County government through the Johnson County Citizens Academy program! The spring 2017 session will begin Feb. 16 and meet for three hours (6–9 p.m.) each Thursday evening until April 27, with no session on March 16 due to spring break. Dinner will be provided at no cost during each weekly session. The application deadline for the spring program is Jan. 20. Visit jocogov.org/citizensacademy for more information and to apply. Crooks steal man’s valuable Santa suit over the weekend in Overland Park. Fox4 reports that a man who had run inside a convenience store for a quick errand had his Santa suit stolen from a van.
Johnson County Park & Recreation District beginning a new session of The Side By Side Experience. The Side by Side Experience is a vocal music and dance group presented by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District for people 50 and over. The next 12-session program begins in early January. Anyone with vocal or dance interests is welcome to join the Side By Side Experience. The next season of rehearsals will meet at 12:30 p.m. Fridays beginning Jan. 6 at Grace Methodist Church, 11485 Ridgeview Road, Olathe.
