Former CenturyLink Tower at I-435 and Nall to be imploded Jan. 15. Overland Park officials say the 10-story building that formerly housed CenturyLink and Embarq at Nall and I-435 is scheduled to be imploded the morning of Jan. 15. The property is being redeveloped by VanTrust Real Estate. The firm also is demolishing a four-story building on the site. VanTrust wants to build three office buildings on the site and is asking Overland Park to authorize the use of Economic Development Revenue Bonds to obtain an exemption on sales taxes on for construction materials and equipment related to the project. This request will be considered by the Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee of the City Council at their meeting today. Any recommendation from the Committee will be considered by the City Council on January 9, 2017.
Five Kansas lawmakers scheduled to participate in Leawood Chamber of Commerce luncheon event. The Leawood Chamber is hosting its 2017 Legislative Luncheon on Jan. 4 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marriott Overland Park. Cost is $32.50 for members and $45 for non-members. Legislators scheduled to participate are: Sen. Barbara Bollier, Rep. Stephanie Clayton, Rep. Jan Kessinger, Rep. Joy Koesten and Sen. John Skubal.
