On Sunday, an Arizona woman was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 69 Highway in Overland Park. She’s also suspected of driving under the influence.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol’s online crash log, a 2008 Toyota Camry had been reported as an erratic driver.

Recorded radio traffic indicates that the Toyota Camry was first reported at about 3:05 p.m. as it headed westbound on Interstate 435 near Roe Avenue. The caller witnessed the car hit the median barrier twice near State Line Road and began following the vehicle.

The Camry merged onto southbound U.S. 69 Highway from Interstate 435 and was involved in another crash.

At approximately 3:13 p.m., troopers say the Camry rear-ended a Toyota Corolla as both vehicles were southbound on U.S. 69 between 135th Street and 151st Street.

“Vehicle 1 (Toyota Camry) continued southbound, left the roadway to the right, and rolled onto its top,” the Highway Patrols crash log says.

The Camry came to a stop on its roof in the grass between the southbound lanes of U.S. 69 and the exit ramp to 151st Street.

Overland Park Fire and Johnson County Med-Act responded to check for injuries.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, a 37-year-old woman from Phoenix, Ariz., was still inside the overturned car when police arrived.

Firefighters were able to help her out of the car and into a waiting ambulance.

Johnson County Med-Act transported her to the Overland Park Regional Medical Center with what troopers described as a “suspected minor injury.”

A trooper accompanied the ambulance to the hospital as part of the Highway Patrol’s DUI investigation.

Troopers say that the two people in the Toyota Corolla, both Olathe residents, did not report any injuries, and everyone involved was wearing seat belts.

Two exit ramp lanes from southbound U.S. 69 to 151st Street were closed as the Highway Patrol investigated the crash. All lanes reopened at about 4:15 p.m.
