Blue Valley Schools Buzz: Bond projects continue thanks to community investment

As students headed back to school for the 2021-22 school year they likely noticed some small and large upgrades to buildings across the district. Teams worked all summer on projects that reinvest, reinforce and reimagine Blue Valley—all because of the community’s investment in its youth.

In January 2020, Blue Valley community members voted to pass a $186,855,000 bond issue that students and staff will benefit from for years to come. Immediately following the passing of the 2020 Bond district teams got right to work designing and constructing projects throughout the district.

To date, the district has implemented nearly two-thirds of the planned projects in just short of two years since the passing of the bond. The marquee project completed during spring 2021 was an addition at Blue Valley High which included removing five 20-year-old mobiles and building a 12-classroom addition with three flex spaces.

While there are still bond projects on the horizon, the district knows the work put in place already will have a tremendous impact on the teaching and learning in our buildings and are excited to see all the amazing ways our students, staff and community will benefit from these upgrades.
