Moderna and J&J booster shots now available in Johnson County — what you need to know

Johnson County vaccines

The CDC has recommended booster shots of any of the three COVID-19 vaccine brands for certain eligible populations, including those 65 and older, people with underlying health conditions and workers in high-risk areas, including first responders and teachers. Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson booster shots are now available across Johnson County, including at commercial pharmacies and grocery stores, like the Price Chopper in Overland Park, above. The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment will begin offering booster shots of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine  by appointment at its Mission clinic starting Monday, Oct. 25.

That follows the CDC’s recommendations last week that booster shots of both the Moderna and J&J vaccines start to be made available to eligible individuals. That, in turn, comes after booster shots for the Pfizer vaccine were approved on Sept. 24 by the FDA.
