Bird Rides recently removed all of its e-scooters and e-bikes from the city of Overland Park due to staffing trouble. Now, the city is studying the future of the pilot to allow such mobility device providers in the city.

The city of Prairie Village could be receiving at least 50 Bird scooters if the city council approves a pilot program with the California-based Bird Rides Inc. Above, a few Bird scooters parked in Kansas City, Mo.

Prior to joining the Post in 2020, I served as News Director for KCUR. I got my start in journalism at the University of Missouri, where I worked for KBIA, mid-Missouri's NPR affiliate. After college, I spent 10 years as a teacher and went on to get a master's degree in education policy from Stanford University.
