A new “healthy hangout” recently opened its doors in Leawood’s Town Center Plaza.
Nutrition club SoReal Energy & Nutrition is now doing business at a storefront in the shopping center at 119th and Roe, between a Claire’s and Kansas Sampler.
It opened on Dec. 21, but the store’s operators say they are on track to have a grander official launch in May after the store’s sign and awning are installed in April.
SoReal offers a range of nutrient-boosted shakes and teas with flavors like mango pineapple, french vanilla, blackberry lemonade and gummy bear.
The club is also rolling out a spring and summer menu, with tropical items like pineapple delight shakes and loaded sunrise teas.
They also offer wellness consultations and host events at the space, including cooking and yoga events.
Owner Sirel Belderok said opening SoReal started with a motivation to find a healthier lifestyle near the end of 2020. Her business partner Lisa Augi helped her start a 21-day wellness challenge, and since then, Belderok has lost 65 pounds.
As a mother of five kids, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts on working and parenting made fitness harder. Belderok said she opened SoReal with other mothers in mind.
Part of this focus is SoReal’s kid’s corner, where kids can play for free when parents come in.
“My focus point is mothers, because I want to give them purpose,” she said. “The thought of it was to give parents a place to fill their baskets with nutrition and interaction with other adults, and a place for their kids to just be kids.”
In between now and SoReal’s planned grand opening, Augi said she and Belderok want to keep building relationships in the community through local events and partnerships with other businesses.
“We want to grow,” she said. “We would love to be able to impact the community in any way that we can.”
SoReal is open seven days a week. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
