Leawood is planning to have a new art piece at Tomahawk Park and make improvements along 135th Street, among other goals for the next five years.
At a special work session Monday night, the Leawood City Council discussed the city’s goals they have planned for that time span.
All 29 goals discussed had been previously approved by the council in February 2021, so the meeting was a chance for the council to receive an update on where each project currently stands.
Below is a list of some of the goals that may have a more visible impact on residents:
Art piece at Tomahawk Park
Department: Parks & Recreation
Details: Accepted by city council in 2021, the Public Art Master Plan calls for a new piece of art at Tomahawk Park near 119th Street and Town Center Parkway. There are two locations in the plan near this area that were presented as potential future sites. The Leawood Arts Council is working to select a piece that will fit in either of the planned spaces.
