Zephyr Kitchen & Bourbon Bar, located inside the newly remodeled Marriott hotel Overland Park, is set to have a soft opening in early April.
The introduction of the hotel’s new restaurant at 10800 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park is part of the hotel’s $16 million renovation, which the Post previewed late last year.
Described by hotel officials as “a vibrant new gathering place for Overland Park,” the Zephyr sits in the Marriott’s new-look lobby that has been updated with a modern design.
The restaurant plans to officially celebrate its grand opening in late April.
George Katz, general manager of the Marriott Kansas City Overland Park, said while the restaurant area is currently serving a limited food selection, the space will not fully launch as Zephyr Kitchen & Bourbon Bar until later next month.
Contemporary American cuisine is what the restaurant will serve, including classic sandwiches, burger, steak, chicken, salmon and more.
Officials said it could take up to five weeks before the full menu is being served.
In addition to food, Zephyr offers a variety of drinks with craft cocktails and an extensive new wine list.
With bourbon in its name, the drinks menu will also consist of a wide assortment of that liquor with over 100 options for patrons to choose from.
“We recognized the special place the Marriott holds within the Overland Park community and were focused in particular on designing vibrant public spaces that guests and locals alike will enjoy,” said John Rosen, president of Wexford Lodging Advisors, in a statement.
In August 2019, the Marriott Kansas City Overland Park was acquired by Wexford Lodging Advisors, an Ohi0-based investment firm, and Trinity Private Equity Group, a Texas-based asset manager.
It was later in 2020 when the new hotel owners announced the Marriott would be undertaking its renovation.
Along with the inclusion of Zephyr, the entirety of the hotel received a facelift as part of the renovation.
A total of 398 guest rooms now have new furniture, finishes and bathroom tubs converted to showers, along with half the rooms having double kings beds
The Marriott also updated its 24-hour fitness center by doubling it in size, relocated its concierge lounge and renovated the hotel’s 10,000 square foot ballroom.
