Rosati’s Pizza, a Chicago-style pizza franchise, is planning to open a new location near the Stanley Square Shopping Center in south Overland Park.
Where exactly: The new restaurant is set to be located at 8360 W. 151st Street.
Daniel Perillo, Rosati’s president of franchising, said the company is looking to open the new location within the next three months.
The details: While the company specializes in the classic Chicago-style deep dish pizza, the restaurant will offer a variety of options for patrons to choose.
In addition to deep dish pies, Rosati’s also offers pizzas with thin and stuffed crusts and a gluten-free option.
Pizza is not the only type of food that will be served at the new location either. The menu will also feature pasta, wings, salads, sandwiches and other dinner options.
For appetizers, customers can enjoy some Italian classics, including fried ravioli, breaded mushrooms and Rosati’s breadsticks.
Background: The idea of Rosati’s Pizza first came to be when the Rosati family opened their original Italian restaurant in New York in the late 1890’s.
After the turn of the century, the family moved and later opened the first Rosati’s Pizza in a suburb of Chicago in 1964.
There are now more than 200 locations across the United States, with the highest concentration still in Illinois.
The new 151st Street restaurant will be the second Rosati’s in Overland Park, with the first location at 9928 College Blvd.
Key quote: “We’re very excited,” Perillo said. “We have a franchisee from that area that is going to open the location there. We like the area and are trying to expand in the area because we believe they are ready for Chicago-style pizza.”
