Aspen’s Restaurant & Lounge, an upscale dining restaurant offering a live music experience, has officially opened in south Overland Park.
Where exactly? Located at 6995 W. 151st St., the new restaurant had a soft opening in June.
- The space, found near 151st Street and Metcalf Avenue, had been previously occupied by Llywelyn’s Pub.
Background: Formerly known as Dior Restaurant, Aspen’s opened in September 2021 by former paramedic firefighter Cary Ricks before closing earlier this summer to undergo some major changes.
- In addition to a name change, the restaurant’s decor, food and ownership have all changed.
- “We are thrilled to welcome you all back for some exciting new changes under our new ownership,” Dior’s former OpenTable page reads.
- Aspen Ricks, wife of the former owner, took over ownership as part of the changes, according to restaurant staff.
Menu: Aspen’s American-style menu has a variety of entrees, including burgers, pasta, steaks, sandwiches, salads and some seafood options.
- The restaurant’s starters also include cheesy bread, calamari, spinach artichoke dip and lobster avocado toast.
- For dessert, Aspen’s is serving up several classic options with a twist, such as its Biscoff cookie creme brulee or waffle cone crusted cheesecake.
Live music: In addition to its food, Aspen’s also gives patrons the chance to enjoy live music each weekend.
- Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, local musicians will perform to provide guests with a little extra entertainment to accompany their meal.
- A lineup for the musicians playing at the restaurant during the month of August can be found on Aspen’s Facebook page.
Grand opening: Although the restaurant is already open, Aspen’s is preparing to celebrate with an official grand opening on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 4 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
- The event is set to include a DJ, Aspen’s “swag,” free appetizers and a drawing for Aspen’s gift cards.
- Patrons interested in attending the event can RSVP on the restaurant’s OpenTable site.
