The Brass Onion is celebrating its fifth anniversary in Overland Park.

The Prairiefire restaurant serving southern-style comfort food will feature a range of events to commemorate the anniversary this week.

The Brass Onion opened in 2019

The restaurant moved into a 4,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by the Newport Grill.
The Brancato family, the Brass Onion’s owners, also owns and operates Brancato’s Catering in Kansas City, Missouri.
Owner Andrew Bracato said the name of the restaurant came from the many onion-like “layers” the restaurant has — from its food and drinks to its hospitality.

The Brass Onion will celebrate with deals and giveaways

On Monday, the restaurant’s fried chicken is $5 for dine-in customers.
On Friday, customers can enjoy brunch and anniversary cocktails at $5 as well.
From Monday through Friday, all dine-in customers also get a $10 coupon.

The restaurant boasts “comfort food at its finest”

The Brass Onion is largely known for its fried chicken, typically served with collard greens, mashed potatoes and cornbread.
The restaurant is also known for its weekend brunch and extensive cocktail menu.
Other items on the restaurant’s “southern-inspired” menu include shrimp and grits, reuben sandwiches, and macaroni and cheese.
