This week, Leawood paved the way for Minnesota-based Warners’ Stellian to expand to Johnson County.
The Leawood Planning Commission on Tuesday approved final plans for the store to open in southern Leawood.
If the Leawood City Council also approves the most recent plan, then the store could open as soon as this fall, said Warners’ Stellian representatives.
The store will open at 5101 W. 135th St.
- The company plans to build a roughly 12,000-square foot, one-story store at the Cornerstone of Leawood development.
- Warners’ Stellian joins a growing list of new businesses looking to build new spaces at Cornerstone of Leawood, including MorningStar Senior Living and Rakar Dumpling House.
- The shopping center also neighbors Leawood’s Church of the Resurrection and the Prairiefire shopping center in Overland Park.
Warners’ Stellian sells home and kitchen appliances
- The family-owned company has been selling and servicing appliances like refrigerators, laundry machines and outdoor grills for nearly 70 years.
- In addition to the incoming Kansas store, Warners’ Stellian has stores in Minnesota and in Iowa.
- The specialty store also ships appliances in recyclable material.
The store wants to open more Kansas City locations
- The Leawood City Council still needs to approve the company’s final plan in the coming weeks.
- Owner Robert Warner said the company wants to open three or four more stores in the Kansas City area in the next three years.
- “In our 70-year history, we’ve never closed a store ever,” Warner said. “We plan to sink our roots for a real long time in (the Leawood) community.”
