Starting this week, a nearly 10-block stretch of Mission Road in south Leawood will be closed for major work that is expected to last through the summer.
The road will closed from 127th Street to 135th Street, with a detour provided.
This comes as part of an overhaul on a mile of Mission Road, which includes replacement of the road and other infrastructure improvements.

Closures start Wednesday, March 29
Starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, construction company VF Anderson Builders will begin roadway and storm sewer improvements at the site.
Southbound traffic will still be open on the other side of the road.
Officials say the road will likely reopen in August.
The city will provide a detour
Northbound drivers on Mission Road can take 135th Street to Roe Avenue.
They can then follow Roe Avenue north to 127th Street.
From there, they can turn right (going east) on 127th and rejoin Mission Road there.
Mission Road will be under construction until 2024
Eventually, all of the asphalt from West 133rd Street to West 143rd Street will be replaced.
The city will also install new sidewalks and bike lanes along both sides Mission Road.
The $7 million project also includes new lights, curbs and traffic signals.
