Happy Friday, Blue Valley!
*Note: Outside of big breaking news, the Post will be taking Monday off to rest and observe Memorial Day. We plan to be back Tuesday with fresh headlines from your Johnson County communities.
☀️Today’s forecast: Mostly sunny. High: 81. Low: 53.
🚨 One thing to know today
This one’s for the birds. Or bird.
One-time Blue Valley High School and Kansas State baseball star Will Brennan, now in the big leagues, paid a special tribute earlier this week when he hit a home run for the Cleveland Guardians.
The day before, Brennan appeared to accidentally kill a bird that was sitting on the infield grass at Cleveland’s stadium with a sharp, opposite-field single.
It was notable enough that Brennan took to Twitter to offer his apologies.
I truly am sorry @peta and bird enthusiasts. An unfortunate sacrifice. https://t.co/eE7UsdBEk6

The next night in the same park, Brennan smacked a home run and, as he rounded the bases, he paid a subtle homage by flapping his hands.

Brennan, a one-time Kansas Gatorade Co-Player of the Year when he was at Blue Valley, was called up to Major League Baseball last season.
This season, he’s earned steady playing time with the Guardians. His home run Tuesday was his second of the year. He also has 11 RBIs and four doubles.
